No matter if you are...

  • A protective parent just escaping a coercive controller (abuser) and trying to manage your own experiences and the experiences of your child
  • A protective parent who has been living away from the coercive controller (abuser) and managing the best you can but looking for guidance on how to support your child and the experiences of your children as siblings…

...You are in the right place.

  • Begin to process your trauma & most importantly, your child’s trauma
  • Begin to process the losses you have experienced & your child has experienced
  • Become an empowered protective parent by becoming more trauma-responsive
  • Become more consistently perceived as the safe parent you are
  • Role model calm and lend your child calm
  • Become more attuned with your child & reignite a deeper attachment

PROCESSING & VALIDATING OUR TRAUMA & OUR CHILD'S TRAUMA

Module 1: Your Experiences, Your Trauma

In Module 1 we unpack the experiences of protective parents as victims of the coercive controller and this supports their enhanced understanding of their trauma & their traumatic reactions.

Module 2: Loss & Grief

In Module 2 we address the loss and grief for protective parents as the foundation for understanding their trauma and their triggers. Being “seen” gives the opportunity to grieve the losses and supports protective parents in their being more attuned to understand their own and their child’s experiences of loss.

Module 3: Triggers & Reactions

In Module 3 we begin to make sense of the triggers protective parents have, which supports their ability to create solutions for managing (& minimizing) those traumatic reactions. REDUCING the traumatic reactions, supports protective parents in role modeling and guiding their child’s ability to REDUCE their own traumatic reactions.

ELEVATING YOU - THE PROTECTIVE PARENT

Module 4: Responsive Strategies

In Module 4 we gather up the tools to put in our Trauma-Informed Toolbox that will help to guide the interactions protective parents have with their child while alleviating the significant anxiety and reactiveness in the family system.

Module 5: Consistency & Boundaries

Module 5 highlights the importance of consistency and boundaries for a child who has felt off balance for a very long time. Their need for consistent boundaries, surrounded in calm, is a basic need that our child needs, and that protective parents must fulfill.

HEALING BEGINS FOR OUR CHILD & FOR US

Module 6: Enhancing a Feeling of Safety for Your Child

Module 6 is when protective parents create an enhanced trusting [safe] environment by using strategies that support protective parents in their resolve as the safe parent. These children need to see their protective parent stronger than even the protective parent believes they are!

Module 7: Attunement

Module 7 is when protective parents become more adept and more confident at implementing their new skills in response to their child’s emotional dysregulation.  stronger than even the protective parent believes they are!

Module 8: Agency & Enhancing Resiliency

In Module 8 protective parents begin to enhance resiliency in their child and begin to consistently utilize their agency as an individual and as a [protective] parent. This supports their child in recognizing their own agency and leads towards mutual healing.
